Monster Hunter Stories mod menu features a turn-based battle system, with you and your monster friend by your side against up to three enemies. These allied monsters are called “Monsties”, a kind of dark but funny term, and it’s definitely not the only example of questionable naming.
But I could easily ignore the silliness and even started to enjoy it in between the action. The hero receives a Kinship Stone from the Village Chief and officially becomes a Knight. Cheval and Lilia leave the village, each in their own way. The hero, though now separated from childhood friends, partners with the joyful Navirou and embarks on a new adventure in the world of hunters.
The story begins in a forest near the village of Riders. Three young friends – the hero, Lilia and Cheval – stumble across a shiny egg. The trio do a playful imitation of the Rite of Kinship, only to be shocked when they actually succeed! The egg hatches, revealing a baby Rathalos, a flying wyvern also known as “the King of Heaven”.
The trio affectionately calls him “Ratha” and takes him back to the village. Days later, without warning, the village is besieged by a monster infected by the “Black Blight”. They manage to fend him off, but not before devastating the city and leaving indelible scars on Cheval and Lilia’s hearts.
